Peels Q & A

What are facial peels?

Facial peels can enhance your skin’s texture, minimize wrinkles and blemishes, and give you a more even skin tone.

The three types of Image Skincare facial peels are:

  • Enzyme peels
  • Chemical peels
  • Oxygenating peels

How do facial peels work?

Facial peels remove the top layer of skin using chemicals, enzymes, or other methods. A new layer of radiant and healthy skin replaces the skin removed by the facial peel.

Each type of facial peel works differently. Enzyme peels use enzymes derived from fruit to correct the skin; chemical peels use either lactic acid or glycolic acid, and oxygenating peels use a combination of oxygen-infused plant-based stem cells, enzymes, and other ingredients to improve the skin’s appearance.

You can use facial peels to:

  • Treat acne
  • Reduce fine lines
  • Rejuvenate the skin
  • Eliminate wrinkles
  • Reverse sun damage
  • Minimize the effects of aging

Facial peels are unlikely to have any effect on sagging and bulging skin, deep wrinkles, or major scars.

What can I expect after I receive a facial peel?

After your facial peel, you may feel a tingling sensation. Ultimately, your skin will look more radiant and fine lines, acne, and dark spots will be less visible.

Your face will be vulnerable to sunlight for a short period. Doctors recommend using sunscreen above SPF 30 to protect your skin or wearing a hat that shields your face when out in the sun after treatment.

Facial peels may cause your skin to shed, and blisters may form immediately afterward, depending on the depth of your peel. Don’t let that alarm you: After your body produces new skin cells, the formation of blisters and shedding stops.
